Tips for Staying Safe During Heat Waves

Many people living with Parkinson's disease experience worsening symptoms in hot weather. As we continue to experience more heat waves and extreme weather, it's important to be prepared! High temperatures can pose significant health risks for people living with Parkinson's. Tips for heat waves for people living with Parkinson's Stay hydrated Some medications for Parkinson's increase dehydration risk, so be sure to drink plenty of water. Diving into the Future

We first met Marlene Kendrick in 2019 when she and her partner, Jack, hosted a small concert in their living room benefitting the Brian Grant Foundation. Since being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2018, Marlene has been a solid supporter of BGF and today she’s a dedicated member of our Program Advisory Committee. Summer is in full swing. Fortunately, this summer looks brighter than last. As things are gradually returning to normal, everyone is excited to get outside and freely be active again. There is plenty of scientific research to back up the belief that being outside in nature is medicine for the mind.
